BlueBrixx Train Station Set 101043

BlueBrixx's Train Station is a BlueBrixx-Specials model built from 3,563 blocks, reproducing a classic railway station. Age 14+.

The instructions are not in the box

This needs saying first, because it is unusual and it surprises people.

BlueBrixx supplies the building instructions for this set as a free download from its website, after registering an account. There is no printed manual in the carton.

For a 3,563-piece build that is a real practical difference. You will be working from a screen for many hours, which means a tablet or laptop on the table beside the parts, and it means the instructions cannot be lost but also cannot be handed to someone else with the set.

It is how BlueBrixx keeps the price of its larger Specials models where it is, and a great many builders prefer digital instructions anyway — you can zoom in on a step, which no printed page allows. But it should not be a discovery you make after opening the box.

A station is what turns a layout into a place

A model railway with track and rolling stock is a mechanism. A station is where it becomes a scene: somewhere the trains are going, somewhere people would stand, a reason for the whole thing to exist.

That is why station buildings are disproportionately represented in every model railway range ever made, and why they are usually the most detailed structure a manufacturer produces. At 3,563 pieces this is one of the largest buildings BlueBrixx has made, and it is the centrepiece of the Trains series rather than an accessory to it.

In the BlueBrixx range

Sets 102535 (Railway Platform) and 102788 (Freight Shed) are the other station buildings, designed to stand alongside this one. The locomotives and rolling stock are a separate part of the Trains series.
