COBI D-Day 1944 Set 2048

COBI's D-Day 1944 set is built from 30 blocks and contains three figures: a paratrooper of the 101st Airborne in a new uniform colour with a parachute pack and an M1 rifle, a Marine with a bazooka, and a sailor with a Thompson submachine gun and binoculars. Stands, brick vegetation and a German plate mine are included. All uniforms are pad-printed.

Two of these figures exist to crew other sets

A sailor and a Marine are an unusual choice for a Normandy set, and COBI chose them deliberately.

Look at what else is in the range. Set 4825 is the PT-109 patrol boat — 72 cm of it, at the same scale as these figures. Set 4849 is the LCVP Higgins boat, the landing craft that put men on the beaches. Both are large models with deck space and nobody standing on it.

Most figure sets are soldiers. These are the people who worked the boats, and they are here because the boats needed populating. If you have the PT-109 or the Higgins boat sitting empty, this is the set that fills it.

The paratrooper covers the other half of the landings, and the plate mine — a German Tellermine — is the obstacle both of them would have found waiting.
