Worth knowing before the box arrives: there is no printed manual. The building guide is a PDF, which means a screen on the table for the whole build.

Some builders prefer it — you can zoom into a step, which no printed page allows, and the file cannot be lost. Others find it awkward with a six-year-old, because a tablet in a pile of bricks is one more thing to knock over. It is worth knowing which you are before ordering.

Chariot means combat vehicle

Several Qman sets carry Chariot in the name and none of them is horse-drawn. The Chinese word is zhànchē, literally war-vehicle — the ordinary modern term for a tank or armoured vehicle, and also, unchanged, the word for the chariots of two and a half thousand years ago.

Chinese kept the old word and let the meaning move with the technology. English borrowed tank from a 1915 factory cover story and left chariot in antiquity. So a name that reads as entirely modern in Chinese arrives in English sounding ancient.

The Technician series

Qman's Technician line uses a more mechanical building style than its city sets — beams, pins and joints rather than stacked bricks — producing models with moving parts and a different kind of assembly.
