Qman's The Legend of Chariot is a Technician-series model built from 622 blocks. Age 6+. Instructions are supplied as a PDF rather than printed.

Why so many of these sets are called Chariot

Four separate Qman sets in this range have Chariot in the name, and none of them is a horse-drawn vehicle. It is a translation artefact, and a revealing one.

The Chinese word is zhΓ nchΔ“ β€” literally war-vehicle. It is the ordinary modern term for a tank or an armoured fighting vehicle, used in newspapers and military manuals without any archaic flavour at all.

It is also, unchanged, the word for the chariots of the Warring States period two and a half thousand years ago. Chinese did not invent a new word when the technology changed; it kept the old one and let the meaning move with it.

English went the other way, borrowing tank from a factory cover story in 1915 and leaving chariot stranded in antiquity. So a Chinese product name that reads as entirely modern arrives in English sounding like Ben-Hur.

It is worth knowing because it makes the naming across this whole range legible. Chariot means combat vehicle.

The Technician series

Qman's Technician line uses a more mechanical building style than its city sets β€” beams, pins and joints rather than stacked bricks β€” which produces models with moving parts and a different kind of assembly.
