The Supermarine Spitfire Mk. XVI Bubbletop was one of the variants of the legendary British Spitfire fighter plane used during World War II. The Mk. XVI was a modification introduced in 1944 that featured a spherical-shaped cabin (Bubbletop). It improved the range of visibility available to the pilot. The aircraft achieved a high top speed of about 676km/h. Armament included two 20mm cal. machine guns and four 7.7mm cal. machine guns. The Spitfire Mk. XVI was used mainly as an escort and reconnaissance fighter, taking part in operations on various war fronts. Its improvements, especially in performance and visibility, made it an effective means of air combat in the late war period.
