This is the whole thing in one box

The four robots in this set are also sold individually — 41301 Flame Blade Raider, 41302 Iron Fist Commander, 41303 Flying Bombing Soldier and 41304 Laser Sniper. Buying those four separately gets you to the same place.

This box is the alternative: everything at once, 1,201 pieces, one purchase. It is the simpler route and the one to choose if the combined robot is the point rather than the collecting.

The transformation does not require dismantling

That sentence in the specification is the most important thing about this set, and it is easy to skim past.

In most multi-build brick sets, building the alternative model means taking the first one apart. Three models, one at a time, and you choose which one exists today.

Here the four robots stay built. They fold, rotate and clip together into the larger figure, and come apart again the same way. Nothing is dismantled and nothing is rebuilt.

That is considerably harder to design — every joint has to work in two configurations and hold in both — and it is the difference between a set you build and a set you play with. A child can transform it a hundred times without touching the instructions.

It is also the thing that makes a brick combiner behave like the moulded transforming toys it descends from, which is exactly what the format was reaching for.
