The costume relics feature screen-used material worn by Kelsey Grammer, John Mahoney — and Moose, the Jack Russell terrier who played Eddie.

That is not a novelty. Moose received more fan mail than any human member of the cast, appeared on the cover of Entertainment Weekly, and was written into the show as a character with motivations: Eddie stares at Frasier, and the joke is that the dog has an interior life the psychiatrist cannot interpret.

He worked from 1993 until 2000, when his son Enzo — who had already doubled for him in stunt scenes — took over. Moose died in 2006 at sixteen, and the production had by then employed two generations of the same dog for a decade.

A costume relic from an animal actor is an unusual object even in a hobby full of unusual objects.

He appeared in Frasier as an opera company director, which is the sort of guest role the show collected — alongside Jean Smart, Linda Hamilton, Virginia Madsen, Mercedes Ruehl, Griffin Dunne and Robert Picardo, who is himself a Star Trek regular.

Frasier used its Seattle setting as an excuse to hire theatre actors, and the signer list reads accordingly.
