What a hot box is

The specification mentions hot boxes, and it is a piece of trade jargon worth knowing before you buy sealed product.

A hot box is a box that contains far more of something than the stated odds allow — here, a complete set of Blue or Maroon parallel cards, where a normal box would hold a handful. They are inserted deliberately, at some very low rate, and they are indistinguishable from the outside.

Manufacturers use them for a specific psychological reason. Fixed odds make a product predictable, and a predictable product is one a buyer can calculate. A small chance of an extraordinary box breaks that calculation — and it means every sealed box on a shelf might be the one.

The honest way to read it: your box is almost certainly not a hot box. Hot boxes exist so that the ones that are not still feel like they could have been. That is the entire mechanism, and it works on everybody, including people who know exactly how it works.
