A sealed Star Trek: Voyager Archives and Inscriptions hobby box from Rittenhouse Archives. 24 packs per box, 5 cards per pack, with 4 “Big Hits” in every box — at least three of them autograph cards. All autographs are signed on-card.

What 500 cases actually means

The print run is 500 cases worldwide. Twelve boxes to a case makes 6,000 boxes in existence, and that number will not grow.

The figure worth doing the arithmetic on is the headline guarantee: one Kate Mulgrew or Jeri Ryan autograph in every case, averaged across the production run. That puts roughly 500 of those cards in the world, split between the two of them — somewhere in the region of 250 apiece, for the two leads of a series that ran seven seasons.

Per box, the odds of pulling one are about one in twelve.

Rittenhouse also puts 4 Inscription autographs in every case — cards where the signer has added a line of dialogue or a character name beside the signature. Those are effectively one of a kind, since no two inscriptions are written identically.

A base set that is not one set

The base set is 60 cards, one per character, each carrying a memorable line — Janeway, Seven of Nine, the Doctor, B'Elanna Torres, Neelix, Tuvok, Harry Kim, Tom Paris and fifty-two others.

The unusual part: Rittenhouse printed more than 200 different quote variations across those 60 cards. Two collectors can both hold a complete base set and own visibly different cards. Completing every variation is a separate and much longer project than completing the set.

The nine script cards are worth noting separately: they are cut from original production scripts, which means nine exist and no more can ever be made.

“Big Hits” are drawn from the autograph, relic, stamp, comic cut and script cards. Each sealed case also carries a three-card topper set: CT1 Captain Janeway, CT2 Seven of Nine, CT3 The Doctor.

Guest signers include John de Lancie as Q, Sarah Silverman as Rain Robinson, Jason Alexander as Doctor Noum, Ed Begley Jr. as Henry Starling, Virginia Madsen as Kellin, Martha Hackett as Seska, Martin Rayner as Dr. Chaotica, Titus Welliver as Cmdr. The set reaches forward as well: Star Trek Prodigy autograph cards are randomly inserted, with Rylee Alazraqui as Rok-Tahk and Angus Imrie as Zero — the animated series that continues Voyager's story, thirty years on.
