Rittenhouse 2025 Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season 2 – Sealed Case (12 Boxes)
A factory-sealed case of 12 boxes of Rittenhouse's Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season Two. Per box: 24 packs of 5 cards, with 3 on-card autographs and 1 authentic costume relic card.
One insert set exists because they made a musical episode
Among the bonus cards are Song List cards from "Subspace Rhapsody", and the fact that such a thing needed to exist tells you what Season Two was.
Star Trek had never made a musical. In August 2023 Strange New Worlds did — an episode in which a subspace anomaly forces the crew to express themselves in song, with original numbers, choreography and the entire principal cast singing on camera. The cast recorded the songs properly, in a studio, before filming.
It could have been a disaster and largely was not, because the writers used the format for something. A musical works by making characters say aloud what they have been avoiding, and the episode moves several long-running relationships forward precisely by removing the option of not mentioning them.
The same season also produced a full crossover with the animated Lower Decks, in which two cartoon characters arrive in live action. Strange New Worlds spent its second season doing things the franchise had spent fifty-seven years not doing.
A card set covering it needs a category for song lyrics. That is a good sign.
