Rittenhouse 2024 Star Trek Discovery Season 5 – Sealed Case (12 Boxes)

A factory-sealed case of 12 boxes of Rittenhouse's Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 trading cards. Per box: 24 packs of 5 cards, with 4 autograph cards including rare dual and inscription autographs, 1 relic card, and additional chase inserts.

The case incentives explain how this hobby actually works

At the bottom of the specification are two lines that look like footnotes and are in fact the engine of the entire trade.

Six-case incentive: one of four exclusive inscription autographs signed by Ethan Peck. Twelve-case incentive: an incentive box with exclusive autographs, including dual relic cards numbered to 75 featuring materials from Pike and Spock.

Those cards are not sold. They cannot be bought at any price. The only way to obtain one is to buy six or twelve sealed cases from an authorised distributor — which at this level means an outlay running into five figures.

The purpose is to make the people in the middle of the distribution chain commit. A shop that buys twelve cases has taken a real position on a product before anyone knows whether it sells, and the incentive card is what compensates that risk. It also guarantees the manufacturer a print run it can plan around.

The side effect is that incentive cards become the rarest things in the set by a wide margin, and their existence is what sets the ceiling on what everything else is worth.
