COBI Police Snowmobile Set 1544
COBI's Police Snowmobile is built from 100 blocks, 11 cm long, with small tracks, skis and elements that glow in the dark. A police officer figure is included. Part of the Action Town range.
Police forces really do use these
A snowmobile with police markings sounds like something invented for a toy range. It is not.
In Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Canada and Alaska, police and mountain rescue units operate them as standard equipment, because for several months a year large areas are reachable by nothing else. A patrol car cannot leave a ploughed road; a snowmobile crosses open country at speed and carries a casualty out on a sled behind it.
The tasks are ordinary policing done in snow: search and rescue, accident response, checking on isolated properties, and โ genuinely a large part of the work โ enforcing the rules about where other snowmobiles are allowed to go.
The glowing parts
The luminous elements are the detail children notice first. They charge in daylight and glow for a while in a dark room, which is unusual in COBI's range and makes this a better set than its size suggests for a young child.
In the COBI range
Part of Action Town. Sets 1547, 1548, 1565 and 1572 are other police sets, and 26628 and 26630 police helicopters.
