Playmobil 70778 – Advent Calendar: Novelmore – Dario’s Workshop

Playmobil's Advent Calendar Novelmore – Dario's Workshop (70778) builds a knights' castle scene over 24 days, with five figures and a dragon: the inventor Dario DaVanci, the knights Gwynn and Arwynn, and the Burnham Raiders Kahboom and Tyragon.

Behind the doors are a castle tower with a wall section, a working crossbow and a section of wall that breaks away, a paraglider with a shield, a wooden training figure, a safe for Dario's plans, a telescope, books, a table and stool, a ladder and a set of tools. The finished tower can be attached to the Grand Castle of Novelmore (70220), which is sold separately.

An inventor named after an inventor

Dario's surname is DaVanci, and the choice is not an accident. Leonardo da Vinci filled his notebooks with machines of exactly this kind: flying machines modeled on the wings of birds and bats, a giant crossbow, and, around 1495, a mechanical knight in armor designed to sit up and move its arms.

Dario's workshop holds the same three ideas in Playmobil form — a paraglider for Gwynn to jump from the castle wall, a crossbow in the tower, and a wooden training figure for the knights to practice against.
