COBI's Opel Rekord C 1700 L Cabriolet is a 1:35 model built from 140 blocks under original licence from Opel, 13.2 cm long, with rotating wheels and a plate carrying the vehicle name and the Opel logo.

A German car drawn in Detroit

Look along the side of this model. The waistline dips behind the door and rises again over the rear wheel โ€” the shape American designers called the Coke bottle line, after the bottle it resembles in plan view.

That was not a European idea. Opel had been owned by General Motors since 1929, and the Rekord C of 1966 was styled with Detroit's design language applied to a car sized for German roads and German fuel prices. Pontiacs and Buicks of the same years wear the same line, three sizes larger.

It is why the Rekord C still looks slightly American to European eyes and slightly European to American ones, and it is a large part of why the car sold as well as it did: it looked more expensive than it was.
