Mould King Reventón Blue Hypercar Set 27108

Mould King's Reventón Blue Hypercar is built from 442 blocks, with functional steering, angular bodywork, triangular headlight clusters with transparent elements, a canopy-style cockpit, a hexagonal exhaust and a dual-tier rear spoiler. A transparent stackable display case is included.

Twenty were built, and the dashboard came from a fighter jet

The Reventón was announced in 2007 as a limited run of twenty cars plus one for the factory museum, at around a million euros each. They sold before most people knew they existed.

The design brief was openly aircraft: the reference was the F-22 Raptor, and the angular faceted bodywork — which is what this model reproduces — comes from the same visual language as a stealth fighter. Lamborghini even filmed the car racing a Tornado jet at an Italian air base for the launch.

The instruments went furthest. Where a car normally has round dials, the Reventón had three TFT screens in a carbon fibre housing, with a display mode borrowed directly from aviation — including a g-force meter showing lateral and longitudinal acceleration, of the kind a pilot reads rather than a driver.

It was not faster than the Murciélago underneath it. It was the same car in a different body, sold to twenty people who wanted the body. Lamborghini has been entirely open about that, and it worked.

The name

Lamborghini names its cars after fighting bulls. Reventón was a bull that killed the matador Félix Guzmán in 1943 — which is a particular choice for a car of that price, and entirely in keeping with a company that has done it since 1966.
