The record ended the following summer

Hülkenberg went into 2024 holding the record for most Formula One starts without a podium — a run that had passed 200 races and had followed him for fifteen years.

It ended at Silverstone in July 2025, in a Sauber, from eleventh on the grid, in the rain. He was 37 and in his fifteenth season. The commentary team ran out of things to say and the pit lane applauded him in.

The VF-24 is the car from the year before that — his last with Haas, and the one that rebuilt his standing enough for Sauber to sign him for the Audi project.

He scored 31 of Haas's 58 points in 2024, more than half the team's total, and finished eleventh in the championship. That performance is what earned him the seat he eventually took the podium in.

Haas's best season in years

The VF-24 was the first Haas in some time that was not defined by destroying its tyres. Ayao Komatsu took over as team principal at the start of the year, abandoned the previous aerodynamic concept, and the team finished seventh — its best result since 2018.
