A two-car set in 1:43 marking thirty years between a father's first Grand Prix and his son's: the Jordan 191 driven by Michael Schumacher at Spa in 1991, and the Haas VF-21 driven by Mick Schumacher at Spa in 2021. Limited to 504 sets. Both models mounted in a display case.

Michael Schumacher got that drive because another man was in prison

Jordan's regular driver, Bertrand Gachot, was jailed in Britain in August 1991 after an altercation with a London taxi driver. The team had a race in ten days and no second driver.

Eddie Jordan took a 22-year-old sportscar driver nobody in Formula One had heard of, on the recommendation of Mercedes, who paid for the seat. Schumacher had never driven a Formula One car and had never seen Spa-Francorchamps.

He told Jordan he knew the circuit. He did not. He had ridden it on a bicycle the day before.

He then qualified seventh, ahead of his experienced team-mate, on the most demanding track on the calendar. The race lasted about 500 metres โ€” the clutch burned out before the first corner.

It did not matter. Within a week Benetton had taken him, in a contractual manoeuvre that went to court and that Eddie Jordan was still complaining about decades later. Schumacher went on to seven world championships.

Thirty years later, at the same circuit

Mick Schumacher drove the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix for Haas โ€” the race that marked exactly three decades since his father's debut on the same track.

That race is remembered for its own reason: torrential rain, a two-lap procession behind the safety car, and half points awarded to a field that never raced. Formula One eventually changed its rules because of it.

So the set pairs a debut that lasted 500 metres with an anniversary that lasted two laps. Whether that is poignant or absurd is up to the owner.
