This set belongs to COBI's Small Army line rather than the Historical Collection, and the difference matters if you are buying to collect.

Small Army is the older, simpler range: fewer parts, less finely detailed, no fixed modelling scale, and the emphasis on play rather than on reproducing a specific vehicle. The Historical Collection sets that COBI has built its reputation on — the ones at 1:35 with pad-printed markings and museum licences — came later and are a different proposition.

So this is not the set to buy if you want a display-accurate Willys to stand beside COBI's 1:35 vehicles. Sets 3132 and 3133 are, and 2805 at 1:12.

It is a good set to buy for a child, or if you want a jeep and a gun to play with rather than to photograph. At 180 pieces it builds quickly, and two figures at this price is generous.

Jeeps towed guns for real

The pairing is not invented. American airborne and infantry units towed 37 mm and later 57 mm anti-tank guns behind jeeps, because a jeep could get a gun into places a truck could not and because it was light enough to be manhandled the last stretch. A jeep, a gun and its crew was a complete anti-tank unit that fitted in a glider.
