COBI Harbor Patrol Set 1565

COBI's Harbor Patrol is built from 300 blocks and contains four models: a harbour police station, a patrol car with a trailer, an inflatable pontoon and a water scooter. The largest Action Town police set COBI makes

Three hundred pieces, four vehicles and three figures is unusual at this price, and it is the reason to choose this one over the smaller police sets: it contains a building.

A patrol car on its own is an object. A station with a car, a trailer, a boat and somewhere for them to be is a place, and a child decides what happens there. That kind of play outlasts a finished model by a long way.

Why harbour police exist separately

Most countries have a marine or harbour police unit distinct from the ordinary force, and the work genuinely is different.

There are no lanes and no road, so a pursuit is a matter of interception rather than following. A boat leaves no tracks and can be abandoned. Jurisdiction changes at the water's edge and again offshore. And a large part of the job is not crime at all but rescue — marine police are frequently the first vessel to reach someone in the water, which is why these units train for it.

The pontoon and the water scooter in this set are the two things such a unit actually uses: something stable that can take people aboard, and something fast enough to catch what it is chasing.
