COBI Güterwagen Type Ommr 32 LINZ Set 6285

COBI's Güterwagen Type Ommr 32 "Linz" is a 1:35 model built from 584 blocks, 42 cm long, with a simple mechanical coupling so wagons can be joined into a train. A worker figure with a shovel and small bricks representing a coal load are included, along with two curved track sections (R88) and one straight — the first curves in the COBI railway range. All markings are pad-printed; no stickers.

The wagon that moved the war

Tanks and locomotives are what people collect. This is what the war actually ran on.

An Ommr 32 was an open goods wagon rated for about 25 tonnes, designed in the late 1930s with the coming conflict in mind, and built in enormous numbers. It carried coal, gravel, crates, barrels, lorries, guns, horses and men. Germany's railways moved millions of tonnes a month, and almost all of it travelled in wagons like this one.

Linz is not a manufacturer. German goods wagons were classified in types named after cities — Linz, Villach, Klagenfurt, Köln — and the name identified a standard design so that any railway official anywhere in the network knew what would arrive when the paperwork said Ommr 32 Linz.

The curves

This set introduced the curved track piece to COBI's railway range. With two curves and the straights from the locomotive sets, a loop becomes possible rather than a line.

The wagon couples behind the BR 52 locomotives (6281, 6282, 6283, 6287) and the BR 03 (6286, 6288). Set 6284 is the SSYS flat wagon for carrying 1:35 tanks.
