BlueBrixx Governors Island: Tavern Set 105128

BlueBrixx's Governors Island: Tavern is built from 1,572 blocks, measuring 46.9 × 40 × 21.1 cm assembled, with a modelled interior and exterior — tables, barrels and fittings. Designed by Marco P., released 14 October 2022, with a printed instruction manual. Part of the modular Governors Island system.

Why every pirate layout has a tavern

It is not decoration, and it is not just a joke about rum.

A port tavern in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries was the labour exchange of the maritime world. A ship's master needing crew went to one; a sailor between voyages lived above one; wages were paid there, news of which ships were hiring travelled there, and the loans that let a man eat between berths came from the landlord.

That is why the taverns in every pirate story are where the plot happens. They were the one place in a port where everyone eventually turned up, and the only place where a sailor with no property had an address.

For a model it does the same job: it is the building with people in it, and the reason the rest of the island has a population rather than just architecture.

How the modular system works

Each Governors Island set is a rock island that connects to the others, so the layout grows over time and can be rearranged. There is no fixed order and no single correct configuration — unlike the Blaustein castle system, where the modules must be built in sequence.

At 1,572 pieces with a printed manual, this is a more straightforward build than the harbour, which arrives with its parts unsorted.

Set 105181 is the Governors Island Harbour, which connects to this one. Both are by Marco P.
