Rittenhouse 2023 Game of Thrones Art & Images – Collector Album
A custom-designed collector album for Rittenhouse's Game of Thrones: Art and Images trading cards, with an exclusive promo card included. No trading cards are included — this is the binder only.
The wrong binder destroys a collection, slowly
It is worth knowing why a card album costs what it does, because the cheap alternative once caused a great deal of damage.
Soft plastic pages need a plasticiser to stay flexible, and for decades that meant PVC. PVC breaks down over years, releasing hydrochloric acid and leaving an oily residue — which sits directly against the card. Collections stored in PVC pages through the 1970s and 1980s came out with yellowed surfaces, cloudy patches and ink that had begun to lift.
Nobody noticed for a long time, because the damage takes a decade to become obvious and the pages look fine the day you buy them.
Modern archival pages use polypropylene or polyethylene instead, which contain no plasticiser and do not off-gas. Acid-free board and lignin-free paper do the same job for the album itself: lignin is what turns old newsprint brown, and it does the same to anything pressed against it.
For a set of cards that includes autographs and relics, that is not a theoretical concern. An autograph in contact with acid does not survive twenty years.
What is included
The album is made specifically for the Art and Images set, so the page layout matches the card count. Each album comes with a promo card issued only this way.
The trading cards themselves are not included.
