This is one quarter of a larger robot

Worth understanding before ordering, because the four sets in this group are easy to confuse.

Sets 41301 (this one), 41302 Iron Fist Commander, 41303 Flying Bombing Soldier and 41304 Laser Sniper are four separate boxes. Each builds a complete model on its own — and each is also one limb or section of a much larger combined robot.

Buy one and you have a working model. Buy all four and they join into the Roaring Flame God General.

Set 41305 is the alternative: all four in a single box, 1,201 pieces, sold together.

So the choice is how you want to get there. Four boxes bought over time is the cheaper route and spreads the building out; one box is simpler and arrives complete.

Why combining robots are hard to design

Each vehicle has to be convincing on its own — wheels in the right place, nothing obviously left over — while also containing a limb that only makes sense later. Every connection point must be hidden in one form and load-bearing in the other.

Do it badly and you get four lumpy vehicles and a robot that falls apart. Do it well and both readings look deliberate, which is why transforming designs are a recognised speciality rather than a gimmick.

The Trans-Collector idea

Qman's Trans-Collector line does with ordinary bricks what transforming toys have done with hinges and moulded shells since the 1980s. The transformation is not a mechanism built into the toy — it is something the builder performs.
