COBI Fiat Abarth 595 Yellow Set 24514

COBI's Fiat Abarth 595 in yellow is a 1:35 model built from 70 blocks, 9 cm long, with rotating wheels on tires and a plate carrying the car's name. The body is plain yellow with silver wheels and the Abarth scorpion badge on the nose. All markings are printed; the set contains no stickers.

The number is the engine

595 is not a model year or a series code. It is the capacity of the engine in cubic centimetres — 595 cc, bored out from the standard Fiat 500's 499. The later 695 was bored out further still, and the naming has stayed with Abarth ever since.

Carlo Abarth's company made its money on records rather than sales. Fiat paid a bonus for every record an Abarth-modified car set, so Abarth went looking for classes nobody was contesting and broke their records methodically — more than a hundred world and class records over the years, many of them in categories most people had never heard of. It was a business model disguised as motorsport.
