COBI's Volkswagen T3 is a 1:35 model built from 123 blocks, 13.5 cm long, with rubber tires and printed detail. No stickers.

The last one with the engine at the back

The T3 arrived in 1979 and was the end of a line that had started in 1950. Like the T1 and T2 before it, it put the engine under the floor at the rear and the driver over the front axle — and it was the last Transporter to do so. The T4 of 1990 moved the engine to the front, and that was that.

What is less often noticed is that the T3 changed halfway through its own life. The early ones had air-cooled flat-fours, direct descendants of the Beetle engine. From 1983 they were replaced by water-cooled boxers, informally called the Wasserboxer — still flat, still at the back, but with a radiator now sitting in the nose behind a grille that earlier T3s do not have. That grille is the quickest way to date one.

European production ended in 1992. South Africa kept building it until 2002.
