COBI Volkswagen T2b Bus Set 24621
COBI's Volkswagen T2b Bus is a 1:35 model built from 145 blocks, 14 cm long, with rubber wheels and printed detail in the original colours.
The window in the name
English speakers call the T2 the Bay Window, and the name is literal. The T1 had a split windscreen with a bar down the middle, because a single curved piece of glass that size was difficult and expensive to make in the late 1940s.
By 1967 it was not, and the T2 got one pane, curved, and around a quarter larger in area than the two it replaced. That one change did more for the vehicle than any of the mechanical improvements: a driver sitting at the very front of a van with a flat face needs to see, and the T2 was the first Transporter where he properly could.
The b in T2b marks the 1972 facelift, which brought a stronger engine, disc brakes at the front and the higher front indicators that are the quickest way to tell one from a T2a.
