COBI's Volkswagen Golf GTI British Version Cabriolet is a 1:35 model built from 93 blocks under official Volkswagen licence, 11 cm long, in blue, with movable wheels on rubber tires. A sticker sheet is included.

Why there is a British version at all

Britain took to the Golf Cabriolet in a way the rest of Europe did not. It sold in numbers that made the United Kingdom one of Volkswagen's most important markets for the car, and that gave Volkswagen's British arm the leverage to ask for things.

So it got them: a long run of named special editions over the model's life, each with its own paint, trim and equipment, sold only in the UK. Some were badge exercises. Others, like the GTI-engined cars, were genuine specification changes — the sporting version of a convertible that had launched without one, built because British dealers said they could sell it.

The wider point is that the Golf Cabriolet ran for fourteen years with almost no engineering change, and Volkswagen kept it fresh entirely through trim and colour. This is what that looked like.
