COBI T-34-85 (2 in 1) Set 2683

COBI's T-34-85 (2 in 1) is a 1:28 model of the Soviet medium tank, built from 1,046 blocks, with one crew figure. As a 2-in-1 set it can be built in two versions.

Built in Poland after the war

The T-34-85 did not stop being built when the war ended. In 1951 Poland bought a license to produce it, and the tank became the first vehicle of its kind the country ever mass-produced. The work went to the mechanical works at Łabędy near Gliwice, with guns from Stalowa Wola and engines from Warsaw; building it meant founding or enlarging a whole chain of new factories.

Around 1,380 were completed between 1951 and 1956. Most served with the Polish army, a batch was exported, largely to East Germany, and Polish engineers later rebuilt many as the modernized T-34-85M1 and M2. A Polish-built example sits in The Tank Museum at Bovington, its instrument panels and plates all in Polish.
