The Panzer IV tank was developed in the 1930s by Krupp and entered service in 1939. Depending on the version, it weighed about 25 tons, had a 75mm gun and was operated by a five-person crew. It quickly became the backbone of the German armored forces. Thanks to constant modifications and improvements it was able to meet the challenges posed by Allied tanks and anti-tank weapons. Its production amounted to over 8,000 units, making it one of the most frequently produced German tanks during the war. The Panzer IV was used on all fronts of the war, from the invasion of Poland in 1939 through the French campaign, fighting on the Eastern Front, all the way to the campaigns in North Africa and on the Western Front. Its versatility and adaptability to various combat conditions made it one of the most valued tanks in the Wehrmacht arsenal.
