COBI's Panzer VI Tiger I no. 131 is a 1:48 model built from 442 blocks, 18 cm long, developed in cooperation with The Tank Museum in Bovington. The turret rotates fully, the gun elevates, and the tracks work. Every marking is printed — the set contains no stickers.

Getting the colour right

Tiger 131 was captured in Tunisia in April 1943, which means it was wearing a desert scheme rather than the grey or the ambush camouflage most Tigers are shown in. Getting that shade right mattered enough to COBI that a new brick colour was made for this set, worked out with the museum that owns the tank.

It is the kind of detail that separates a model of a type from a model of a vehicle. This is not a Tiger I. It is that Tiger I — the one sitting in Dorset, the only running Tiger in the world, photographed from every angle by everyone who has ever visited.

In the COBI range

Set 2710 is the earlier 1:48 Tiger 131 with 340 pieces and the previous camouflage. This is the newer edition: more pieces, corrected colours, museum cooperation. The large 1:28 Tiger 131 is set 2588.
