COBI MiG-28 1:300 Set 5924
COBI's MiG-28 at 1:300 is built from 46 blocks, 7.5 cm long, under the official Top Gun licence. It comes on a black display stand with the film logo and a nameplate, mounted on a transparent support so the aircraft appears to be in flight.
An aircraft that was never built
There is no such thing as a MiG-28. Mikoyan numbered its fighters in odd numbers for decades โ MiG-15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 29, 31 โ so an even number would not have been a fighter at all. The name was invented for the film, which avoided naming a real country's air force as the enemy.
What flew in front of the cameras was a Northrop F-5E painted black. The US Navy already operated F-5s as aggressor aircraft at Miramar, because their size and handling resembled a MiG-21, and lent them to the production.
In the COBI range
Set 5923 is the F-14A Tomcat at the same scale โ the pair are designed to be displayed facing each other. Set 5925 is the brick Top Gun logo, 5922 the carrier, and 5859 the MiG-28 at the much larger 1:48.
