COBI Lancia Delta HF Integrale EVO - Executive Edition Set 24356

COBI's Lancia Delta HF Integrale EVO Executive Edition is a 1:12 model built from 2,294 blocks, 33 cm long, under original Lancia licence. The steering wheel turns the front wheels, the doors open, the bonnet lifts to a brick-built engine, and the interior is modelled throughout. Specially designed parts include a printed windscreen and the car's distinctive wheels. A brick display base with a printed logo and the Italian flag is included.

Six world championships in a row

Lancia won the World Rally Championship manufacturers' title six consecutive times, from 1987 to 1992, with the Delta. No manufacturer has matched it, and the record has stood for over thirty years.

The reason Lancia was in a position to do it is worth knowing. Until 1986 rallying's top class was Group B — almost unlimited, 500-horsepower purpose-built machines with a token production run. After two fatal accidents in 1986, including one that killed a driver and co-driver and another that killed spectators, Group B was abolished at the end of the season.

The replacement was Group A, which required 5,000 road cars to be built. That ruled out every purpose-built prototype overnight — and Lancia happened to have a small, light, four-wheel-drive, turbocharged production hatchback already in showrooms. Everyone else needed years to develop one.

The Integrale EVO of 1991 to 1993 is the final and most developed version: wider arches, bigger brakes, an adjustable rear wing. It was built because the rules demanded a road version, and it turned out to be one of the great driver's cars of its era.
