COBI's Lancia Delta HF Integrale EVO is a 1:35 model built from 61 blocks, 11 cm long, with rotating wheels and printed detail.

A road car built so a rally car could exist

The Evoluzione arrived in 1991 and it is the clearest example of how homologation worked. Lancia wanted a wider track, larger brakes and an adjustable rear wing on its rally cars. The rules said a manufacturer could only use on a stage what it also sold to the public in sufficient numbers.

So Lancia built the road car to match: track widened front and rear, arches blistered again to cover it, a three-position adjustable wing on the tailgate of a family hatchback, and a 2.0-litre 16-valve turbo of around 210 hp. Customers bought a car whose specification had been decided by a rulebook rather than by a market survey.

It was the last of the line. Lancia withdrew from the championship after 1992 and the Delta never had a proper successor.
