COBI German Tanker Figure Keyring Set 1362
A COBI minifigure of a German tank crewman in printed black uniform, fixed to a matching brick with a metal chain and keyring. The connection points are glued so it survives daily use.
Why the uniform is black and cut short
German panzer crews wore black, and the reason is practical rather than theatrical: a tank interior is covered in oil and grease, and black does not show it. Several armies reached the same conclusion independently.
The cut is practical too. The jacket is short, double-breasted and has no outside pockets, because anything that hangs loose or sticks out catches on hatch rims, ammunition racks and the gun breech in a space where a crew has seconds to get in or out. A standard infantry tunic, long and covered in pockets, was a liability inside a turret.
In the COBI range
