COBI F-35B Lightning II 1:300 Set 5927
COBI's F-35B Lightning II is a 1:300 display model built from 46 blocks under an official licence from Lockheed Martin, supplied with a stand carrying the aircraft name and a transparent support that holds the model as if in flight.
At around 7 cm it is a desk or shelf piece rather than a building project.
The short-takeoff variant
The B is the version of the F-35 that does not need a runway. A lift fan behind the cockpit, driven off the engine by a driveshaft, blows downward while the main exhaust nozzle swivels to point at the ground — which lets the aircraft take off from a short deck and land vertically. That capability costs it internal fuel and weapons volume compared with the A, and it is why the F-35B flies from assault ships and small carriers that could never operate a conventional fighter.
In the COBI range
Set 5926 is the F-35A Husarz in Polish markings at this scale, and 5940 the standard F-35A. 1:300 is the scale COBI uses for its ships, so these models are sized to sit alongside them rather than beside the larger 1:48 and 1:32 aircraft — including the Top Gun aircraft carrier, set 5922.
