COBI DR BR 52 Steam Locomotive & Railway Semaphore #6287
COBI DR BR 52 Steam Locomotive & Railway Semaphore #6287
A set with a block model of the German DR BR 52 Steam locomotive / Ty2 Steam locomotive from World War II. The construction made of blocks faithfully reproduces the shape, proportions and details of the legendary steam locomotive, which is probably the most popular and is recognizable by all railway enthusiasts in the world. The exclusive 2-in-1 edition contains two different sets of additional blocks that allow you to build a model of the German DR BR 52 locomotive with German markings from the period of World War II or a locomotive with Polish markings of the Polish State Railways from the period of the post-war Polish People's Republic. In addition to various blocks with different symbols, numbers and markings, the set also includes improved, larger front and rear lamps for the Polish construction, selected blocks in different colors, as well as two different figures: a German train driver from World War II and a stoker.
The set includes a beautiful block semaphore with lots of prints! A railway semaphore is a signaling device used in rail transport to provide drivers with information about the condition of the track and the permitted method of operating the train. Semaphores are a key element of the railway safety system because they help prevent collisions and regulate train movements.
The 1:35 scale locomotive model, in addition to accurate details such as symbols, numbering and markings, has additional, numerous "clock" prints inside the locomotive's engine room. Thanks to the easily removable roof of the engine room, you can look inside to see faithfully reproduced details of the driving devices. We also took care of such a detail as the imitation of burning coal in the fireplace! Just like in a real steam locomotive the entire wheel mechanism is coupled together so that it moves simultaneously. Inside the model there are gears that create a complex mechanism that ensures realistic movement of the wheels and the entire drive. Just gently push the model to move the entire system.
Five different wheel designs on the locomotive, some of which contain rants, i.e. special edges, make the model sit perfectly on block tracks and also able to overcome block bends with an inclination scale of R88 or higher. It is worth adding that the model is fully compatible, i.e. it fits block tracks of other brands of building blocks.
The tender, a wagon for transporting, among other things, coal, also faithfully reflects the real-life inspiration. Inside it has reproduced fuel composition. It also has swivel wheel bogies and a special hitch to which additional wagons can be attached to form a complete train.
The version of the locomotive with a semaphore also includes a special, rigid, brick display base imitating a railway embankment and a plate with the name of the locomotive; you can choose from: German BR 52 and Polish Ty2.
COBI also produced its own shape of a block imitating a section of the track. The set includes five such sections with a total length of approximately 65cm. The track is made using modern two-color injection technology, which means that each individual section, approximately 13cm long, is one element and is made of two different colors of material that are connected to each other. The gray steel rails stand out clearly from the very realistically made brown railway sleepers. There are no visible studs on each railway sleeper, which improves their realism, and each of them is covered with a board texture, i.e. an imitation of wood grain. The tracks can be attached to construction boards and have a technical hole thanks to which the track can be permanently attached to a railway diorama, e.g. using a screw or nail. This set is the perfect gift for any history and railway enthusiast. Build history, piece by piece, with COBI.
BR 52 or Ty2 or Ty42 was a freight steam locomotive of German design, produced in many European factories in the years 1942 to 1945. It was a very cheap, simple and at the same time very reliable steam locomotive. In Poland, after World War II, over 1,200 of these vehicles were used in the Polish State Railways. The locomotive could pull freight trains with a total weight of up to 620 tons at a speed of 80km/h or 1,700 tons at a speed of 50km/h. This steam locomotive was also used many times to pull passenger trains.
