COBI Cessna 172 Skyhawk-Yellow Set 26621

COBI's Cessna 172 Skyhawk in yellow is a 1:48 model built from 160 blocks, 17.5 cm long with a 23.5 cm wingspan, with rotating wheels and a turning propeller. All markings are printed; the set contains no stickers. A new part — the vertical stabiliser — was designed specifically for this model.

More of these were built than any other aircraft

Not any other light aircraft. Any other aircraft, of any kind, ever. More than 44,000 Cessna 172s have been built since 1956, and they are still being built today — nearly seventy years of continuous production, which no other aeroplane has managed.

The reason is that it is difficult to do badly. The 172 is stable, forgiving, slow to stall and hard to get seriously wrong, which is exactly what you want in the aircraft somebody learns on. A very large proportion of the world's pilots — including most airline captains — made their first solo flight in one.

It also holds a record nobody is likely to beat: in 1958 two men kept a 172 airborne over Las Vegas for 64 days and 22 hours, refuelling from a truck driving along a desert road with a hose.
