COBI Cessna 172 Skyhawk Set 26623 (Damaged Box)

COBI's Cessna 172 Skyhawk is a 1:48 model built from 162 blocks, 17.5 cm long with a 23.5 cm wingspan, with rotating wheels and a turning propeller. All markings are printed; the set contains no stickers.

Condition

This set is sold at a reduced price because the outer box is damaged — it may have holes, creases or crushed corners. The contents are brand new, sealed and complete. If you are building the model rather than collecting sealed boxes, the only difference is the price.

Why the wing is on top

On a training aircraft a high wing is a deliberate choice. The student can see the ground, which is where a pilot needs to look when judging a landing. Fuel reaches the engine by gravity, so there is no pump to fail. And the walk-round happens in the shade with no climbing involved.

None of that makes it fast. It makes it the aeroplane most of the world's pilots learned in — more than 44,000 built since 1956, and still in production today.
