COBI Boeing F-15 EX Eagle II Set 5900
COBI's Boeing F-15EX Eagle II is a 1:48 model built from 739 blocks, 41.5 cm long. The ailerons move, the cockpit opens, the wheels rotate, and two pilot figures in full uniform are included. A display base with a plate carrying the set name and the US flag completes it.
Nobody has ever shot one down
The F-15 is credited with 104 air-to-air victories and no losses in air combat. Not a low number of losses — none, across five decades and several air forces.
That record is the reason this aircraft exists. By 2018 the US Air Force had a problem: its F-15C fleet was worn out, the F-35 was expensive and slow to deliver, and there was a large amount of ordinary work — patrolling airspace, carrying missiles, sitting on alert — that does not need stealth. Buying brand-new aircraft to a 1970s design was cheaper per flight hour than anything else available, and the design had not been beaten.
The EX is new-build with modern everything: an AESA radar, digital flight controls, an electronic warfare suite, and eleven weapon stations carrying up to 22 air-to-air missiles — more than any fighter in the world. The first were ordered in 2020.
It is not a stealth aircraft and does not pretend to be. It is the aircraft that goes second, after the stealth fighters have opened the door.
