COBI Bell 429 Air Ambulance Set 26629

COBI's Bell 429 Air Ambulance is a 1:48 model built from 248 blocks, 24 cm long, in emergency medical markings. A new cockpit part was designed specifically for this set. All markings are printed; the set contains no stickers.

The reason it exists is a clock

Trauma medicine works to a rule of thumb known as the golden hour: for severe injuries, the chance of survival falls sharply once about sixty minutes have passed without definitive surgical care. It is a simplification, and clinicians argue about the exact figure, but the shape of the curve is not in dispute.

An ambulance on roads cannot beat that clock from a remote area. A helicopter can, and that single fact is why air ambulances are funded in countries that otherwise count every penny of health spending.

The Bell 429 is well suited to it because of the cabin rather than the speed. It has flat floors, a large rear clamshell door and enough interior height for a crew to work on a patient in flight instead of merely transporting one — which turns the flight itself into treatment time rather than lost time.
