COBI Bell 407 Policja Set 26628

COBI's Bell 407 Policja is a 1:48 model built from 217 blocks, 22.5 cm long, in the markings of the Polish police. A new brick was designed for the helicopter's distinctive nose. All markings are printed.

Why this helicopter for police work

The Bell 407 has a four-blade main rotor with a soft-in-plane hub, and the practical consequence is that it is quiet and smooth for its size.

That matters more for police aviation than performance does. A police helicopter spends most of its hours orbiting slowly over inhabited areas, often at night, and two things decide whether it can do its job: whether the observer's camera image is steady enough to be useful, and whether the noise generates enough complaints to ground the aircraft.

A smooth rotor gives a stable picture. A quiet one keeps the helicopter in the air politically. Several police forces chose the 407 over faster machines for exactly that combination, and the Polish police took delivery recently as part of a fleet modernisation.

The compact size is the other half of it: a 407 fits into spaces a larger helicopter cannot, and costs a fraction of an hour in a twin.
