COBI Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 Rally Legend Set 24668
COBI's Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 Rally Legend is a 1:35 model of the 1985 Group B car, built from 230 blocks under an official licence from AUDI AG, and supplied with a figure.
The car itself is the same vehicle as set 24667 — same scale, same oversized front and rear wings, same short wheelbase. This version is the larger set, with the extra pieces and the figure.
The real Sport quattro S1 E2
The E2 arrived in 1985, at the point where Group B rules had stopped restraining anyone. Audi's five-cylinder turbo produced a quoted 470 horsepower in a car that weighed barely 1,100 kilograms, and the wings bolted to each end were there because the car had become too fast to stay planted without them. Walter Röhrl took it to victory at the San Remo Rally in 1985. Group B was cancelled at the end of the following year after a series of fatal accidents, which left the S1 E2 with a competition career of barely two seasons — part of why it is remembered as it is. Röhrl drove a derivative of it up Pikes Peak in 1987 and set a record on the way.
In the COBI range
At 1:35 the model joins COBI's Audi quattro series and stands correctly beside the 1980 quattro and the Group 4 car. If you want the car on its own without the figure and the additional pieces, set 24667 is the smaller version.
