COBI Citroen 2CV Dolly Set 24513
COBI's Citroën 2CV Dolly is a 1:35 model built from 85 blocks, 11 cm long, with four movable wheels, printed number plates and a plate carrying the model name and the period Citroën logo.
Selling a 1949 car in 1985
By the mid-1980s the 2CV was nearly forty years old and no longer made sense on its original terms. Cheap small cars had caught up and overtaken it; nobody needed a 2CV to get to market any more.
Citroën's answer was to stop selling it as transport and start selling it as a choice. The Dolly, launched in 1985, came in two-tone paint combinations with contrasting roof and wheel arches, and it was followed by a string of others — Charleston, France 3, Bamboo, Cocorico. Same car underneath, different clothes, deliberately limited runs.
It worked, and it is why the 2CV stayed in production until 1990. The buyers at the end were not farmers. They were people who wanted the car precisely because it was impractical.
