BlueBrixx's Castle Blaustein is built from 5,250 blocks — 1,020 building steps across 12 sections — and is the base model of BlueBrixx's largest modular castle system. Designed by Martin, released in 2021, built from GoBricks parts. Towers, battlements, drawbridges and courtyards, with figures, weapons and furniture. No stickers or prints.

This castle can grow to over 33,000 pieces

Blaustein is not a set. It is a system, and this is the piece everything else attaches to.

The expansions arrive in a fixed order, and it matters: the Keep (set 103406, later reissued as 107089), then the Outer Bailey (104185), then the Hall (104953), then the Weir Walk (105236), and several more since. With everything built, the complex passes 33,000 pieces and occupies most of a large table.

Several expansions do not simply stand beside what came before — they reconfigure it. The Hall Extension includes parts that replace sections installed with the outer castle. So the modules are not interchangeable and the sequence is not optional.

If you are starting from nothing, this is purchase number one.

Why a castle in modules is a better idea than it sounds

A single-box castle is finished when it is finished. The cost arrives at once, the building time arrives at once, and then it is done.

Blaustein spreads both over years, and the final layout is yours — walls can be arranged differently depending on the space available. It also means someone who would never attempt a 33,000-piece model can arrive at one by building a 5,250-piece castle and then continuing.

That is the actual achievement here, and it is why the set attracted the attention it did when it appeared.

Building time

1,020 steps is days rather than evenings, and the set is meant for experienced builders. The GoBricks parts have notably high clutch power — good for a structure this size, and worth knowing if you intend to dismantle sections later for the expansions.

In the BlueBrixx range

Sets 104953 and 105236 are the Hall and Weir Walk extensions. Sets 105506, 105545, 105653 and 105654 belong to the separate Bear Rock Castle system, which is smaller and does not connect to Blaustein.
