myBrickZ's BVG Bus Berlin, set 0006, is a model of the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro electric bus in the yellow livery of Berlin's transport operator, built from 319 pieces. It has a sliding side door, mirrors and a windshield wiper, and 24 printed pieces, including seats printed with the BVG seat pattern. There are no stickers.

A seat pattern designed against vandals

The best-known BVG seat pattern, officially called Urban Jungle and known to Berliners as the Würmchenmuster — the little-worms pattern — was designed in the 1980s by Herbert Lindinger for West Berlin's S-Bahn trains. Its purpose was practical: a tangle of red, blue, black and white shapes in which scribbled graffiti would disappear, so that vandals lost interest.

It worked well enough to spread to buses and trains across the network, and then became a Berlin symbol in its own right, printed on scarves, sneakers and swim shorts. In the 2020s it led to a copyright dispute between the BVG and its designer, settled when Lindinger granted the right to keep using it.

In the myBrickZ range

Set 0002 is the yellow double-decker with its bus stop. Sets 0003 and 0005 are the Deutsche Post DHL vehicles, and 0001 the train station.
