BlueBrixx Urban Family Home Set 107415
BlueBrixx's Urban Family Home is a BlueBrixx Play set built from 621 blocks, measuring 30 Γ 17.6 Γ 18 cm assembled β kitchen, lounge and upstairs bedrooms, with a removable back and an opening wall. Rooftop solar panels and an electric car charging point are included, along with a patio, barbecue and garden. Three figures, two adults and a child. All decoration is printed; no stickers. Released August 2024.
The solar panels date this set precisely
Look at what the designers chose to put on the roof, and what they put on the driveway. That is what modern meant in 2024, and in twenty years it will read like a photograph.
Toy houses have always done this without meaning to. A dolls' house from 1900 has a coal range and gas mantles. One from 1960 has a television with legs and a telephone on a hall table. One from 1990 has a satellite dish, and one from 2005 has a computer in the corner of a bedroom. None of them were trying to record anything β they were trying to look current, which is exactly why they ended up as evidence.
Solar panels and a wallbox are a good example, because they mark a transition rather than a settled state. They are still worth showing off, still slightly aspirational, still the thing a family adds to a house rather than something a house simply has. When that stops being true the set will look like a period piece, and probably quite soon.
Built to be reached into
The back comes off and a wall opens β the standard solution to the problem every model house has, which is that a finished building hides everything inside it. BlueBrixx Play is the line built for playing with rather than displaying, and the access is the point.
