BlueBrixx's Traffic Control is a BlueBrixx Play set built from 66 blocks, measuring 9.5 Γ 5.1 Γ 5 cm assembled β a roadside check with a speed camera concealed behind a shrub, traffic cones and a printed police sign. Two figures with a radio and signalling paddles. All signage is printed; no stickers. Released 2024.
Hidden or visible is a real argument
The camera in this set is behind a bush, which is accurate for Germany and would be illegal in several other places.
Two philosophies exist and they disagree about what enforcement is for.
If the aim is to slow traffic at a dangerous spot, the camera should be as visible as possible β signposted, painted yellow, announced in advance. Britain moved to that model deliberately: cameras are yellow and marked, because a camera that changes behaviour is worth more than one that collects fines.
If the aim is to make speeding unpredictable everywhere, hiding it is the point. A driver who knows where the cameras are slows for two hundred metres and speeds up again. A driver who does not know slows everywhere. Germany allows concealed measurement, and mobile units in unmarked vans behind hedges are a normal sight.
Both sides have evidence. Visible cameras produce large, well-documented reductions at the specific site; concealed enforcement produces smaller reductions over a much wider area. The argument is not really about safety at all β it is about whether it is legitimate for a state to catch you rather than stop you.
