BlueBrixx's Stargate on Planet is a BlueBrixx-Pro diorama built from 665 blocks on a 220 × 200 mm base, with the gate standing about 120 mm high. Five minifigures are included — Samantha Carter, Daniel Jackson, Teal'c, Cameron Mitchell and Vala Mal Doran — printed front, back and arms. The set has a Dial-Home Device, a MALP rover, naquadah crates, textured terrain with rocks and alien ferns, and a removable ramp. Designed by Niklas under official Stargate licence.

The ring has nine chevrons, and seven of them do the work

The set includes two sets of tiles for the chevron ring — one active, one idle — and the distinction is worth understanding, because it is the one piece of Stargate mechanics the series is consistent about.

A gate address is six symbols. Those six describe a point in space, the way six coordinates would, and the gate locks one chevron for each as it dials. The seventh chevron is the point of origin — the symbol for the gate you are dialling from — because a destination is meaningless without knowing where you started.

That is seven chevrons for an ordinary trip. The remaining two exist for longer journeys: an eighth symbol adds a distance marker for another galaxy, and the ninth, used once in the series, addresses a specific gate rather than a location.

So a gate mid-dial has some chevrons lit and some dark, which is exactly what the two tile sets let you build. You can pose this model dialling or idle.

An officially licensed Stargate set

Worth noting because it is rare. Stargate has never had much merchandise compared with other science fiction franchises, and brick-built versions have historically been fan designs rather than licensed products. BlueBrixx holds the licence, which is why the figures carry the actual characters' faces and the naming is accurate rather than approximate.

Displaying it

There are Technic pin holes built discreetly into the base. They let you angle the gate or fit lighting without modifying anything, which is unusual forethought on a set this size.
