BlueBrixx's Stargate Movie 1994 Advent Calendar is an officially licensed BlueBrixx-Pro set built from 1,082 pieces. Behind its 24 doors are 17 small builds that recreate scenes from Roland Emmerich's film, along with 15 minifigures.
Opened day by day, the calendar works its way through the story of the film; among the builds are a Stargate and a brick-built version of the movie poster. This edition adds newly developed Jaffa elements. The set is rated for ages 10 and up.
A helmet only the film could afford
The soldiers the television series would later call Jaffa were, in 1994, simply Ra's guards, led by Horus and Anubis. Their hawk- and jackal-headed helmets were designed by Patrick Tatopoulos, and the one Djimon Hounsou wore as Horus was a remote-controlled animatronic headpiece of fiberglass, painted to look like aged bronze.
On screen the helmets fold away to reveal the face β a digital effect that proved too expensive to repeat on a television budget. In SG-1 the serpent guards' helmets were seen opening in full view only rarely, and the original film helmets were reused for the guards of Hathor and Heru'ur.
