Six hundred pieces for a pen pot, and that is the point

A pen holder costs a few euros and takes no skill to manufacture. Nobody needs this one.

What it does is solve a problem that every built model has: a finished model occupies space and gives nothing back. It sits on a shelf, it collects dust, and at some point it gets boxed. An object that is also useful earns its place indefinitely — it is on the desk because it is doing something, and the fact that it is Snoopy is a bonus rather than a justification.

That is why functional brick models have become their own category: pen holders, lamps, clocks, plant pots, phone stands. They are the sets that survive the moment when somebody decides there are too many models in the house.
